Introduction
परिचय
- Shri Ramcharitmanas is the great epic composed by Goswami Tulsidas (1532 -1623) in 16th-century.
  
  श्री रामचरितमानस सोलहवीं शताब्दी में गोस्वामी तुलसीदास (1532 -1623) रचित महान महाकाव्य है।
- The word "Ramcharitmanas' is made by combination of wordrs "Ram" (Lord Ram), "charit" (dees) and "manas" (lake). Hence English meaning of Ramacharitmanas is "The Lake of the Deeds of Rama".
  
  रामचरितमानस शब्द "राम", "चरित" (चरित्र) और "मानस" (सरोवर) शब्दों के मेल से बना है अर्थात् राचरितमानस का अर्थ है "राम के चरित्र का सरोवर"।
- Tulsidas started writing the Ramcharitmanas in Vikram Samvat 1631 (1574 CE) in Ayodhya. It was completed in two years, seven months and twenty six days.
  
  तुलसीदास जी ने रामचरितमानस की रचना विक्रम संवत 1631 में आरम्भ किया तथा उसे पूर्ण होने में दो वर्ष सात माह एवं छब्बीस दिन लगे।
- Ramcharitmanas is popularly known as "Tulsi Ramayan" or "Tulsikrit Ramayan".
  
  आम लोगों में रामचरितमानस "तुलसी रामायण" या "तुलसीकृत रामायण" के नाम से विख्यात है।
- Ramcharitmanas is considered one of the greatest works of Hindi literature. All Hindus used to keep a copy of it in their house. They treat it as venerable as it is a holy epic of Hindu religion.
  
  रामचरितमानस को हिन्दी साहित्य की महानतम रचनाओं में से एक माना जाता है। प्रायः सभी हिन्दू रामचरितमानस की प्रति को श्रद्धा के साथ अपने घरों में रखते हैं। हिन्दू धर्म का पवित्र ग्रंथ होने के कारण वे इसे पूज्यनीय मानते हैं।
- Ramcharitamanas has been illuminating the paths of human beings for ages as it is a light house of Indian culture.
  
  रामचरितमानस युगों से मनुष्य जीवन के सद्मार्ग को प्रकाशित करते चला आ रहा है।

  हिन्दी साहित्य-सागर में रामचरितमानस का स्थान अत्यन्त पवित्र तथा अनमोल रचना के रूप में है।
- Ramcharitmanas has molded a whole generation of Indians and inspired persons from many countries.
  
  रामचरितमानस भारतीय तथा अन्य अनेक देशों की पीढ़ियों को आध्यात्मिक ज्ञान वितरित करते चला आ रहा है।
Language
भाषा
- The language of Ramcharitmanas is avadhi, which is a dialect of Hindi.
  
  रामचरितमानस की भाषा अवधी है जो कि हिन्दी की एक उपभाषा है।
- Before creation of Ramcharitmanas all the work related to Hindu gods inclusive of Lord Ram were written in Sanskrit language. Ramcharitmanas is the first Hindi epic of Hindu religion.
  
  सदा से ही हिन्दुओं के धार्मिक, पौराणिक तथा आध्यात्मिक ग्रथों की रचना संस्कृत भाषा में होती चली आई थी, रामचरितमानस ही लोगों के आम भाषा वाली पहली धार्मिक ग्रंथ है।
